I See You, I Hear You, and I'm Here to Help

Compassionate CBT & EMDR Therapy for Women & Mothers

Hello! I'm Daniella Doon-Joseph, an accredited Cognitive Behaviour Therapist and EMDR practitioner based in Potton, Bedfordshire, with my therapy room in Hitchin, Hertfordshire. As a mum of two, I understand the juggle, the guilt, and the weight of trying to be 'enough.'

I'm originally from Trinidad & Tobago and studied Psychology in Barbados before completing a clinical internship in Massachusetts, USA, and moving to the UK for my M.Sc. in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. Living across different cultures has shaped me into a more inclusive, culturally responsive therapist.

With over 20 years in mental health, I've worked in residential settings supporting children and young adults, as a Lecturer and Clinical Supervisor at Goldsmiths, University of London, and spent many years in the NHS as a CBT Therapist, Clinical Supervisor and Perinatal Lead.

My approach to therapy

I use evidence-based Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help you process difficult experiences, challenge unhelpful patterns, and develop practical tools for lasting change.

I have extensive experience supporting people with anxiety (generalised anxiety, social anxiety, health anxiety, OCD), depression, trauma, low self-esteem and long-term health conditions.

As your therapist, I am:

  • Collaborative - we work together as a team, you're the expert on your life

  • Curious - I listen deeply to understand your unique story and what matters most to you

  • Compassionate - together we'll cultivate the self-kindness you deserve

  • Culturally responsive - I honour your background, values and lived experience

Supporting You Through Motherhood

As a therapist specialising in maternal mental health, I'm here to support you wherever you are on your journey. Whether you're experiencing anxiety during pregnancy, processing birth trauma, dealing with postnatal depression, or struggling with mum guilt and adjusting to motherhood, I'm committed to supporting and empowering you.

I work with all women, embracing our diverse experiences and backgrounds. As a Caribbean woman, I understand that representation matters, which is why I'm passionate about Black maternal mental health and supporting Black, Asian and Caribbean mothers.

Motherhood brings significant changes to our identity and can feel overwhelming. Let's work together to navigate these challenges and help you thrive.

Food Allergy-Informed Therapy

Whether you're an adult living with food allergies or a parent navigating your child's allergies, I understand the overwhelming impact they can have on daily life.

As a mother of a child with multiple food allergies (dairy, eggs, peanuts and tree nuts) and eczema, I've experienced firsthand the constant vigilance, the worry, and the social challenges.

When food allergy anxiety interferes with who you want to be and how you want to live, it's time to seek support. As a food allergy-informed therapist, I can help you develop tools to navigate the challenges - from diagnosis and testing to managing social situations, travel, and relationships - so you can live a richer, more meaningful life.

Wherever you are in your journey - as a woman seeking support, a mother finding her way, or someone navigating the weight of food allergy anxiety - I'm here. You don't have to face this alone.
